Kintsugi Class
Kintsugi is an ancient Japanese repair technique in which cracks or chips in pottery are repaired with lacquer and beautifully decorated with powdered gold or silver.
At urujyu, we use only "kiurushi," the most natural lacquer made by removing only impurities from the sap of lacquer trees, for our kinstugi. Why not spend your time doing some relaxing kintsugi in a quiet old Japanese house?
We have many kintsugi plans available. You can easily participate in our one-day experience or our short-term programs where you can learn one-on-one for a short period of time. Our most popular course is the Kintsugi STAY. This course combines a one-day experience and a short-term program, in which participants live in a detached building equipped with a kitchen and bathroom and stay for a set period of time. It is very popular with people from overseas.

Roadside Station Nagomi (Ayu Garden)
Ayu Garden is a famous corner of Nagomi. The fish we sell are farmed sweetfish from Lake Biwa. To make the fish as close to their natural state as possible, they are left to swim in the Tanigawa pond that flows into the Yura River for 1-2 weeks to tighten up their flesh. Once an order is placed, the sweetfish are skewered one by one and grilled with salt on a grill. You can savor the toasty aroma and taste of the sweetfish hot off the grill. There is also a space where you can catch sweetfish. Ayu Garden is fully equipped with BBQ facilities, so you can enjoy a BBQ with your family and friends without having to bring anything with you! We have a wide selection of meat, vegetables, and more. You can also just purchase pre-grilled salted sweetfish if you want! Make it an unforgettable summer memory.
