\Nagaoka Tenmangu Flower Lantern Path – The Autumnal Garden “Kinkeien” and Path to the Main Hall Illumination/
Nagaoka Tenmangu Shrine in Nagaokakyo City is famous for its bright red azaleas and plum blossoms. The main hall was actually transferred from Heian Shrine in Kyoto City. After arriving here, it was painted a vibrant vermilion red, adding to its beautiful appearance.
The autumnal garden “Kinkeien,” located on the approach to the main hall, is a stroll-style garden that was recently added. The garden has more than 100 maple trees. When viewed from the gazebo, you can see a scene of large and small maple leaves covering each other. Looking east from the Ema-den (Shiraume-den), you can also see the yellow ginkgo trees together with red maples.
Right now, the temple is holding a special illumination event. The “Kyoto Nishiyama and Nagaoka Tenmangu Flower Lantern Path” includes over 300 lanterns that will light up the path from the main torii gate to the main hall as well as the “Kinkeien” garden.
