Sightseeing in Ine Just Got Easier, Park and Ride and Ine Line

“Park and Ride” service is now available in Ine!

Park and Ride (P&R) allows you to avoid the hassle of parking in popular areas. Simply park your car at a convenient location and use public transportation to get around to see all that the town has to offer. Ine, located in the Kyoto by the Sea Region of Kyoto Prefecture, is famous for its “Funaya” (boathouse), which has been selected as one of Japan’s Important Preservation Districts for Groups of Traditional Buildings. A P&R initiative is now underway on an experimental basis in Ine on weekends and national holidays when congestion is high. Both the parking and buses are free to help everyone to have a stress-free visit.

To use the bus, simply show your bus pass at the P&R parking lot! You can get on and off the bus as many times as you like within the operating hours of the bus. If the bus is full, please use the next bus or take a local bus (200 yen) or “Inetak” (300 yen), the Ine community ride-share service (reservation required).

In addition, the “Ine-kouro,” a sightseeing boat connecting Ine and Amanohashidate, one of the three most scenic spots in Japan, in Miyazu City, is in service for a trial run. The boat makes two round trips per day and is runs on Saturdays, Sundays, and national holidays.

Both services will run until Sunday, September 29, 2024.

When visiting Ine, please be considerate of local residents.

The boathouses, main house, and grounds of Ine are private property, and unauthorized entry prohibited without the owner’s permission. Also, many residents dry their laundry on the sunny seaward side of the boathouses, so please be considerate when taking photos around the boathouse area.
