Tango Ajiwai-no-Sato reopened on April 19, 2015, as Michi-no-Eki Tango Kingdom “Shoku-no-Miyako.” It is one of the largest Michi-no-Eki (roadside station, a municipal rest area that sells local produce, souvenirs, etc.) in Western Japan. Shoku-no-Miyako offers restaurants that feature ingredients produced in the Tango region as well as shops that sell a wide variety of food, such as handmade sausages. It also serves as a farmer’s market for locally grown vegetables.
Shoku-no-Miyako is also a vacation destination with facilities that include a hotel, opportunities to come into contact with farm animals and illuminations that light up the scenery at night with 1,000,000 lights —one of the biggest light displays in northern Kyoto and Hyogo prefectures.
Different events are held according to the season, providing enjoyment for both children and adults alike. Enjoy the facilities as a new face of Kyoto’s Tango region that offers guests opportunities to experience many different aspects of the area, from history to the food culture.
